IELTS Academic Reading test is
marked by certificated markers. The process is regularly monitored for
consistency and reliability. All marked Academic Reading answer sheets are
further analysed by Cambridge Assessment English. Remember to check your
answers carefully, as answers containing spelling/grammar mistakes and answers
that do not follow the correct format will be marked wrong.
Band score conversion
Cambridge Assessment English produces a band score conversion table for each version of the Academic Reading test to convert raw scores into an IELTS band or half band (e.g., 6/6.5).
OVERVIEW OF TASK TYPES
> Multiple choice tasks
·
You might be given a question or the start of a
sentence and you have to choose the correct answer from four options.
·
You might have to choose more than one correct
answer from five or seven possible choices.
> Identifying tasks
·
These are True/False/Not Given tasks and
Yes/No/Not Given tasks.
·
With True/False/Not Given, you need to identify
information in the passage
·
With Yes/No/Not Given, you need to identify a
writer's views or claims
> Matching tasks
·
You might have to match information to the
paragraph or section of the passage where it appears
·
You might have to match headings to paragraphs
or sections of the passage
·
You might have to match features of the passage,
such as people or places to statements about those features.
·
You might have to match sentence endings to make
correct statements about the passage.
> Completion tasks using words from the passage
·
You have to find a word or short phrase from the
passage to complete sentences, notes, a summary, a table, a flow- chart, or
labels on a diagram.
·
In each task, you will be told the maximum
number of words you need to find.
> Completion tasks using words from a list
·
You are given a list of words or phrases which
mean the same as some of the words and phrases in the passage.
·
You have to choose the correct ones to complete
a summary, a flow-chart, labels on a diagram, etc.
> Short-answer questions
·
You are given questions, and you have to find a
word or phrase from the passage to answer each question.
·
In each task, you will be told the maximum
number of words you need to find.
